Set up Chronology

ClockgearMay 2013: Bea quits her job and sets out towards Peru. She spends 6 months in the jungle as a volunteer with the organization “Proyecto Mono Tocón” and some time travelling through Peru, Bolivia and Chile. The adventure will completely change her perception about her priorities.

September 2013: Daniele quits his job and undertakes a 4 months solo-trip through Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, reaching Cape Horn with his backpack. The experience is indelibly amazing.

February 2014 – June 2015: We sadly go back to reality and start new telesales jobs in Portugal and, from 2015, Belgium.

June 2015: First talks about the silk road (and beyond) trip. Bea is not happy any longer with her purposeless sales job. At the same time, Daniele starts to feel the same about his. The silk road has always been a dreamy itinerary in his imagination. She is fascinated as well.

July-August 2015: Talks about the project become more and more frequent. We start to watch several documentaries and movies about travel-inspiring subjects. We dislike our jobs more and more.

September 2015: We travel to Morocco and we decide to write a “pilot post” in view of a new blog project. At the same time, we start to follow thematic blogs, youtube videos and online courses to get an idea on how to generate passive income and develop a professional travel blog.

October 2015: Bea quits her job. We buy a silk road travel guide (in French).

November 1st, 2015: We purchase our domain and hosting service with SiteGround. We also create our first wordpress account. The project is officially on.

November 2015: We start to work quite intensely on the blog. The departure date seems to get closer and closer.

November 27th, 2015: We provide the notice to our landlord to leave our Brussels’ flat by the 15th February.

December 18th, 2015: Daniele gives the leave notice at work. The departure is getting closer and closer.

December 31st, 2015: NomadXpress takes part in the 5 kms run in Pontevedra, Spain, with “promoting” outfits.

January 9th, 2016: We print out our first customized merchandising.

February 5th, 2016: We launch our Facebook page with extra contents and pictures.

February 8th, 2016: We create our profile on Instagram to share our best shots : )

February 12th, 2016: We launch our first crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.

February 12th, 2016: Daniele’s last working day in Brussels.

February 15th, 2016: We say goodbye to Brussels and set off to our “base camp” in Lonigo, Italy, to leave our stuff and arrange the last formalities before the big departure.

February 24th, 2016: We open our second crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe.

February 26th, 2016: We design and produce our personal T-shirts.

March 2nd, 2016: The coveted departure: we irreversibly leave our comfortable base camp on foot with our cherished backpacks, towards epic lands…alea iacta est !
